Same-day breakdowns, 24 hours a day

Warm in January. Cool in July. Quiet all year.

Heating and air conditioning for homes across Hartley. A load calculation before anybody sells you equipment, a fixed price before the work starts, and a maintenance plan that means you rarely need the emergency number.

Cooling

For the four weeks a year it really matters

Sized on a load calculation, not on the square footage of the room. An oversized system short-cycles, never dehumidifies and costs more to run — which is why we measure before we quote.

  • Heat pumpsFrom $5,900Cooling in summer, heating to well below freezing in winter

Heating

For the five months you cannot do without it

Furnaces, boilers and heat pumps, serviced properly rather than glanced at. Most of what we replace in January failed because nobody looked at it in October, and we would rather have looked.

  • Furnace installFrom $4,200High-efficiency, sized to the house and the ductwork you have
  • Boiler service & repairFrom $139Full service with a written report and the readings on it
  • Emergency no-heatFrom $185Answered by a person at any hour, and we carry the common parts
  • Thermostats & zoningFrom $320Rooms that are actually different temperatures, on purpose

Maintenance plans

The cheapest repair is the one that never happens

Two visits a year, spring and autumn, before each system has to work hard. Plan members go to the front of the queue in a heatwave, which is when the queue actually matters.

An oversized system is the most common thing we are asked to fix.

It is also the easiest thing to sell, which is why it happens. A unit too big for the house reaches temperature fast, shuts off, never runs long enough to pull the humidity out, and wears itself out doing it. We measure first and sometimes that means quoting you something smaller than you expected.

A Wexley engineer servicing equipment on site

Why choose us

We measure before we quote

Most of this trade sells equipment. We would rather sell you the right equipment once than the wrong equipment twice, which takes an extra hour at the start and saves years at the end.

  • A load calculation, every time

Room volumes, insulation, glazing, orientation and air changes. It takes about an hour and it is the difference between a system that lasts fifteen years and one that does not.

  • Licensed, insured, EPA certified

Every engineer holds Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling, and the licence and insurance certificates are on the van and on request.

  • Answered at any hour

A person, not a queue. Nights, weekends and holidays go to whoever is on rota, and they can dispatch an engineer while you are still on the line.

  • Three options, not one

Good, better and best, priced side by side with running costs, so you can see what the extra money buys instead of being told which one to have.

How it works

Four steps, and the survey is free

Survey & load calculation

About an hour in the house. Free, and you keep the calculation whether or not you use us.

Three priced options

Good, better and best, with the running costs of each so the comparison is real rather than rhetorical.

Install

Usually one or two days, floors covered, old equipment taken away, and the system commissioned before we leave.

Commission & register

Airflow and refrigerant charge verified against the design, warranty registered in your name, and the first service booked.

Reviews

What Hartley says

Two firms quoted me a five-ton unit. Wexley did the calculation and quoted three and a half, explained exactly why, and the house is more comfortable than it has ever been.
T. FenwickHartley · AC install
Furnace died at six on a Sunday morning in February. Somebody answered, an engineer was here by nine, and he had the part on the van. On the plan it cost me nothing.
L. NgoHartley · emergency no-heat
The upstairs bedroom had been unusable in summer for nine years. It turned out to be a duct nobody had ever balanced. Two hundred dollars, not a new system.

Questions

The ones we get asked

How do I know what size system I need?
You do not, and neither does anybody who quotes you over the phone. It comes from a load calculation — room volumes, insulation, glazing, orientation and air changes. We do it free, it takes about an hour, and you keep it whether or not you use us. Anyone selling you a size without one is guessing.
Should I repair or replace?
Age, the cost of the repair and the efficiency you would gain. As a rough rule, if it is over twelve years old and the repair is more than a third of a replacement, replacing is usually the better spend. We will tell you when it is not, and we frequently do.
How often does it need servicing?
Once a year per system, before the season it has to work in — cooling in spring, heating in autumn. It is not an upsell: most of what we replace in January failed because nobody looked in October, and a serviced system uses measurably less power.
Are the maintenance plans worth it?
If you would have paid for the annual service anyway, yes — the plan costs about the same and adds priority booking and a discount on repairs. If you would not have serviced it, the honest answer is that the plan is worth even more, because that is the situation it protects against.
How fast can you come out in a heatwave?
Plan members go first, which is the whole point of the plan and we will not pretend otherwise. Everyone else is usually same day or next, and we will tell you honestly where you are in the queue rather than saying "later today" six times.
Which areas do you cover?
Hartley, Kingsley, Rowan, Bellwood, Millbrook and Ashgate. We take emergency calls slightly wider than that, but we will be straight with you about travel time before you wait on us.
