You are not handed to whoever is free that morning. One name owns your matter
from the first call to the last piece of paper, and you have their number.
Direct lines, printed
Every attorney’s direct number is further down this page. Not a switchboard,
not an extension, not a form. The number that rings on their desk.
Answered before we close
Every message gets a reply the same working day. If the answer itself will take
longer than that, you are told so the same working day.
Property and estates
Everything that happens to a house and after
Buying it, selling it, the line at the end of the garden, and what happens to it
when somebody dies. Closings and deeds are fixed fee. Probate we quote once we
have seen the estate, and the quote is the number.
Forming it, the lease, the contracts, the employee who did not work out, and
the partner who wants out. Most of it is one meeting and a document, and we
will say so when it is rather than opening a file.
Every firm says it is responsive. Here is the version you can hold us to,
including the part where we cannot.
Every call and message gets a reply before we close that day.
If the answer needs longer than a day, you are told that the same day, with when.
If your attorney is in court, their direct line says so and gives you Ruth’s.
We do not bill for the call where you ask how it is going.
Fees
What it costs, before you ask
These seven are the matters where a fixed price is honest. They are the price,
not a starting point, and they include the filing fees unless the row says
otherwise.

Property
What a title search actually turns up
Old rights of way, a lien nobody mentioned, and the shed that has been eleven
inches over the line since 1998. Most of it is fixable. All of it is cheaper to
find in week one.

Business
The three papers every new LLC forgets
Filing the articles is the easy part and the part everybody does. The operating
agreement, the EIN and the bank resolution are what stop the company being you
in a hat.

Why probate takes as long as it does
Almost none of it is the lawyer. It is the notice period, the tax clearance and
waiting on institutions who answer letters in six weeks. Here is the honest
calendar.

Half an hour, and no charge for it
Tell us roughly what it is about. You will get a reply before we close, from the
attorney who would actually do the work.
